Can I be exempt from sewer charges when I am away from home for an extended period?

No. Regretfully, we will have to discontinue our Snowbird Policy that had been adopted by the Shorewood Forest Utilities Board in October 2010, because we cannot monitor the sewer usage without the reciprocal billing relationship with Indiana American Water.

Who do I contact about my account?

For questions about your wastewater bill after September 1st, please contact Shorewood Forest Utilities at 219-531-0706. For questions about your water bill, call Indiana American Water at 800-492-8373.

Who do I contact if there is an emergency?

For general wastewater concerns, please contact Shorewood Forest Utilities at 219-477-4224. For emergencies, contact us at 219-405-0741. Contact Indiana American Water for any water issues at 800-492-8373.

Where is the Shorewood Forest Utilities, Inc. office located?

The office is located in the Shorewood subdivision at 425 Utility Drive, Valparaiso, IN, near the water tower at the main entrance to the subdivision. We are no longer located in the Clubhouse. Our office hours are Monday- Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

How do I pay my sewer bill?

There are a number of convenient ways to pay your sewer bill:

  • You can, of course, mail your payment to our Office at the address listed above which is the preferred method (and we even provide the return envelope!); or,
  • In person, at the office located in the Shorewood subdivision at 425 Utility Drive, Valparaiso, IN; or,
  • There is a dropbox on the door of the utilities office for after-hours payment.

You can pay online via our website or through your bank. We accept credit cards and debit cards. You can also setup a recurring debit from your checking account or your credit card through this portal. You will find a link on our website called “Pay My Bill”. There is a small fee for this service.

Any bank fees associated with a returned payment will be passed along to you, and an additional fee of $25.00 will be charged to process your returned payment.

You can also pay your bill by the year with a discounted price. Call the office for more information or any help you may need.
